This is the continuation of our central Taiwan trip in early May. After we left Chiayi, we drove to Taichung where we stayed for a few more days. We checked in at Gogo Hotel. We didn’t have a good first impression though because when we entered the lobby, we were welcomed by 3 dead cockroaches!... Continue Reading →
Taiwan Roadtrip (台灣環島), Part 3 – Tainan 台南 and Taichung 台中
We left Kaohsiung at around 9:30-10 in the morning and arrived in Tainan close to lunch time. We tried this really popular congee place in Tainan called 阿堂鹹粥 but we felt like it was… just okay. It was a bit disappointing because we waited more than half an hour for it. The shrimp fried rice... Continue Reading →
Taiwan Roadtrip (台灣環島), Part 2 – Kaohsiung cafes & Moon World Landscape Park (月世界地景公園)
We reached our final destination (Kaohsiung) late evening, and our first order of business was dinner. Good thing T's family had roast duck for dinner and left some for us to eat. We also bought midnight snacks because we got hungry. The next day, we went to Around Cafe (流浪咖啡) for brunch. It's a 2-story... Continue Reading →
Taiwan Roadtrip (台灣環島), Part 1 – Taichung 台中, Changhua 彰化, Chiayi 嘉義
We finally pushed through with our roadtrip. We took a multi-day trip that started in Taipei, passed through Taichung, Changhua and Chiayi, and ended in Kaohsiung (total of 399km!) for the Lunar New Year holiday. After the holiday, we left Kaohsiung and went to Tainan and then Taichung before arriving back in Taipei. I'm going... Continue Reading →
A weekend in Taitung
We took a spontaneous weekend road trip to Taitung (East Taiwan) for a short R&R session. I didn’t think I’d ever be back in Taitung, only because it's so far from Taipei. I wrote about my first time there (3 years ago!) in this post, if you're interested in checking it out. One of T's... Continue Reading →
Hiking Taipei’s highest peak: Qixing Mountain 七星山
Back in late February, we hiked up Mt. Qixing 七星山 in Yangmingshan 陽明山, which is the highest peak in Taipei City at 1120M. Yes, my legs screamed bloody murder after. We took the trail from Lengshuikeng 冷水坑. This was our 2nd hike ever, and our 1st for 2020! It slowly started becoming foggy (zero visibility) as... Continue Reading →
Food tripping at Yongkang Street, Taipei
Someone was in my side of the world so of course, we had to meet up! Tbh, I was a bit nervous at first because we hadn't seen each other in a very long time and I thought it was gonna be awkward or we wouldn't have stuff to talk about.
[Chua Monks in Taiwan] Day trip to Yingge (DIY pottery throwing for kids!)
One of the places I thought to visit outside (but not too far away) Taipei was Yingge. It's easy to reach via train from Banqiao train station (get off at Yingge station), it costs 20NTD one way and travel time is only around 20~30 minutes.First stop was lunch at A-Po Sushi 阿婆壽司 which I found... [Chua Monks in Taiwan] Hotel Pin Jiaoxi 品文旅 礁渓
I found out about this resort through my colleague who had stayed there previously. It's a new resort under the LDC Hotels & Resorts Group that opened in 2019. Since it looked good in photos and seemed to be kid-friendly too, I planned a trip for all of us to spend a night there.
